After adjustment, Thuan Chau town has a natural area of 18.20 km2 and a population of 13,280 people.
Establish Phong Ly commune on the basis of merging a part of the natural area of 25.38 km2, population of 1,939 people of Chieng Bom commune, the entire natural area of 18.47 km2, population of 3,313 people of Chieng Ly commune and the entire natural area of 11.94 km2, population of 3,626 people of Phong Lang commune after adjustment.
After its establishment, Phong Ly commune had a natural area of 55.79 km2 and a population of 8,878 people.
After adjustment, Chieng Bom commune has a natural area of 66.51 km2 and a population of 5,080 people.
After the arrangement, Thuan Chau district has 28 commune-level administrative units, including 27 communes and 1 town.

After the establishment of the town, Quynh Nhai district has 11 commune-level administrative units, including 10 communes and 1 town.
