On the afternoon of March 19, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Lac Commune (Ha Tinh City) - said that 3 boats of local fishermen had sunk, and rescue work to bring the boats to shore is currently being carried out.
According to Mr. Tung, at 6:00 a.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Mr. Nguyen Van Canh and Mr. Tran Dinh Xuan and 3 other fishermen on 3 boats with a capacity of 24CV went to the Thach Lac coastal area to fish.
At around 11am, when the 3 boats were on their way to shore, about 3km from shore, they were sunk by large waves.
Discovering the incident, fishing boats nearby quickly arrived to rescue the 6 fishermen and brought them to shore safely, and reported to the authorities to request rescue to bring the affected boats to shore.
Currently, a boat has been towed to shore. Rescue work for the remaining 2 boats is still continuing.
