Today (December 9) is the anniversary of the founding of Truong Sa island district (now Truong Sa Special Zone) - December 9, 1982 - December 9, 2025.
From the difficult early days, Truong Sa today has grown strongly and spaciously, becoming a solid support for people across the country to turn to the homeland's sea and islands.
From the early days of its establishment with a myriad of shortages of facilities, the lives of cadres, soldiers and people on the islands still faced many difficulties, Truong Sa special zone has today changed significantly.
The spaciousness and freshness of the islands and islets demonstrate the special attention of the Party, State and Army in the process of building Truong Sa into a solid "fortress" in the East Sea.
The infrastructure system has been invested synchronously, especially in wharves, fishing villages and fishing logistics service centers.
These works help fishermen have a safe place to anchor, fuel, repair vehicles, and avoid storms.
To date, the wharves in Truong Sa are capable of receiving and repairing ships with a capacity of up to 2,000 DWT, meeting the demand for seafood fishing of thousands of fishermen.
Not only a support for fishermen, Truong Sa is also a "common home" for many generations of Vietnamese people.
Schools in Truong Sa, Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton... maintain good teaching and learning activities; create conditions for children on remote islands to access full education.
The hospital system and medical center are invested in modern equipment, ensuring health care for soldiers, people and forces working at sea.
Cultural and spiritual works such as pagodas, martyrs' monuments, Uncle Ho memorial houses... contribute to enriching spiritual life and demonstrating the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking", the sacred affection of the Vietnamese people towards the Fatherland.
Along with socio-economic development, the national defense and security tasks in Truong Sa have always been firmly consolidated.
Each officer, soldier and people is a "backbone of life", persistently sticking to and guarding the sacred sky and sea of the Fatherland day and night. The goal of building Truong Sa into an area "rich in defense, good in lifestyle, beautiful in landscape and environment, exemplary in military-civilian solidarity" is being implemented throughout.
The Truong Sa Special Zone is also an important support for fishermen to feel secure going out to sea, affirming sovereignty through sustainable production and fishing activities in traditional fisheries.
The system of medical facilities, from equipment to medical staff, is increasingly being improved, meeting the needs of timely emergency care and health care for the army and people on the island.
43 years - a journey not long compared to the history of the nation, but enough to affirm the especially important role of Truong Sa in the cause of building and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
From the heroic past to the present, Truong Sa has always been a symbol of patriotism, faith and aspiration to rise in the middle of the vast ocean.
