On November 29, due to the complicated developments of storms and floods, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province requested Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) to monitor, reinforce, repair, overcome, and increase drainage capacity... in the An Khe Pass area.
An Khe Pass on National Highway 19 is a vital traffic route connecting forests, seas, and urban areas of Quy Nhon and Pleiku. The pass is long and steep, with rocky cliffs standing close to the edge of the road on both sides, so there is a high risk of landslides during storms and floods, threatening the safety of people's lives.
Meanwhile, every day there are many people and vehicles transporting goods and passengers traveling through this route to the Central Highlands or to the South Central Coast.

Storm No. 13 and floods in November 2025 caused landslides at some locations on An Khe Pass, causing rocks and soil to fall onto the road. The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has requested rescue teams to be on duty 24/7 at the foot of the pass to respond to emergency situations; and issued a pass ban when the risk of landslides increased.
On the morning of November 29, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical depression in the eastern part of Malaysia moved into the southwestern sea area of the South China Sea.
On land, from December 2 to 3, the area from Hue to Gia Lai and Khanh Hoa will have moderate to heavy rain (rainfall in 2 days is about 70150 mm).
Therefore, if there is heavy rain in a short period of time, the An Khe Pass area with rugged and complex terrain is at risk of serious landslides.
Project Management Board 2 is the investor of the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 19 with a total investment of VND 3,600 billion.
Therefore, the Board is responsible for directing relevant units to urgently inspect, clear the flow, dismantle temporary works, obstacles that narrow the flow... to ensure smooth flood drainage.
At the same time, it is necessary to arrange forces, equipment and materials to proactively respond; organize inspections of vulnerable locations and have solutions to reinforce and overcome them to ensure traffic safety and safety on the route.
