Dak Lak - Storm No. 13 has caused heavy damage to people. Currently, authorities at all levels are urgently supporting people to overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives.

Storm No. 13 has passed nearly a week, but traces of devastation are still haunting across Dak Lak. The roofs were blown off, the roads were eroded, the cages were broken and the tired eyes of the people were still clearly visible.

Ms. Tran Thi Em, in Hoa My village, Xuan Canh commune, was still shocked: "The wind blow fiercely, the corrugated iron flies everywhere, the house is almost demolished, all the furniture is on the ground, trees, chicken cages, and duck cages are also flying. Fortunately, the whole family managed to run to the neighbor's shelter. A few dozen people jostled each other in the bathroom, everyone was shaken and scared.

Standing in the middle of a damaged house, Mrs. Em choked up hoping for the government's support to soon stabilize her life - the common wish of thousands of other households.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lang's house in Long Binh Dong residential group, Song Cau ward also had its roof blown off by the wind. "We can only run away from the storm, see the roof fly and be helpless. Now looking back, nothing is intact. I hope that all levels will pay attention to helping people repair their houses," he shared.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Thach - Chairman of Song Cau Ward People's Committee said that the storm caused heavy damage, especially to the aquaculture industry - the main source of livelihood for local people. The government and functional forces are urgently overcoming the consequences of storm Kalmaegi, and at the same time recommending that superiors have policies to support people to soon stabilize their lives.

According to the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, storm No. 13 killed 3 people and injured 12 others; more than 7,300 houses had their roofs blown off, 6,200 houses were flooded, and 232 schools were damaged. More than 44,000 hectares of crops were affected, hundreds of livestock and tens of thousands of poultry were swept away.

The seafood industry suffered particularly heavy damage with 129 damaged fishing vessels, nearly 54,000 cages destroyed, and a total damage of more than 1,900 billion VND. Immediately after the storm, the entire political system took action urgently. Rescue forces, health workers, military and police coordinated to support people, clean up, rescue, provide food, drinking water, disinfect, and prevent epidemics. The province has allocated more than 80 billion VND in immediate support to localities to overcome the damage.

However, due to the huge damage and limited local budgets, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has proposed that the Central Government support 200 billion VND to restore people's lives, rebuild essential infrastructure and restore production.

The province also proposed that the Ministry of Finance consider exempting, reducing, extending or deferring tax debts to affected units and production and business households; at the same time, the State Bank should direct credit institutions to restructure debts, exempt interest and keep the debt group unchanged for people and businesses facing difficulties.
