On the afternoon of November 16, Quang Tri Border Guard confirmed that Con Co Border Station is completing the procedures to handle fishing vessels for fishing with electric pulse.
Previously, at 1:00 a.m. on November 15, when the Quang Tri Border Guard patrol boat fleet was patrolling and controlling illegal and unreported fishing (IUU) in Quang Tri waters, they discovered a suspicious vessel.
When about 1 nautical mile southwest of Con Co Island, the patrol boat squadron approached the fishing boat with registration number QNg 55372IS, inspected and discovered that the fishing boat was using an electric generator to exploit aquatic products.
Mr. Pham Ha (born in 1974, from Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province), the captain and owner of the fishing boat, could not present the required documents related to the fishing boat.
The patrol boat squadron requested the captain to bring the ship to Con Co Island, make a record of the incident, confiscate the electric shock device, generator, and fishing gear for the violation and hand it over to Con Co Border Guard Station to complete the handling procedures according to the provisions of law.
It is known that the above fishing boat has a capacity of 250 CV, is 14.5m long, and has 7 crew members on board.
