On the afternoon of January 15, the People's Committee of Ben Tre City (Ben Tre Province) held the inauguration ceremony of the East-West Highway and Rach Vong Bridge projects.
The East-West Highway project under the Vietnam Urban Upgrading and Expansion Project - Ben Tre City Sub-project includes 4 components: Support for upgrading infrastructure, improving the living environment for people; upgrading Chin Te canal, 30/4 canal, East-West Highway; compensation for site clearance, resettlement and implementation support, technical support. The total investment for the project is 996.96 billion VND. Of which, East-West Highway is the largest project item in the project with a route length of 2.19 km, approved construction estimate of 244.487 billion VND.
The Rach Vong Bridge construction project across the Ben Tre River connecting Ward 8 and My Thanh An Commune (Ben Tre City) has a total investment of 329.8 billion VND from the Central budget. The construction scale of Rach Vong Bridge is 621.71 m long. Of which, the bridge section is 348.41 m long, including 9 spans; the bridge surface is 15.15 m wide. The project is invested by the Ben Tre Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
On the same morning, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ben Tre Province also held a ceremony to announce 6 completed works and projects to serve the development of the marine economy of Ba Tri district.
Accordingly, the investment projects built and completed and put into use to serve the development of the marine economy of Ba Tri district include: Road project to the storm shelter area for fishing vessels combined with Ba Tri fishing port; infrastructure project for high-tech shrimp farming area in Ba Tri district; Chau Ngao bridge construction project; infrastructure construction project to serve sustainable economic development for people in coastal areas of Ba Tri to adapt to climate change; coastal erosion prevention project in Ba Tri district and storm shelter area project for fishing vessels combined with Ba Tri fishing port, Ben Tre province.
According to the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development in Ben Tre Province, these works have been completed and put into use, not only promoting the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry but also creating stable livelihoods for the people. At the same time, they have contributed to increasing income and improving the quality of life. In addition, measures to prevent coastal erosion, protect mangrove forests and respond to climate change have also been implemented synchronously, helping to ensure national defense and economic stability in coastal areas.
