A man with a history of mental illness voluntarily left home to wander around, then entered the 7-story treatment area of Quang Nam Regional General Hospital (Dien Ban ward, Da Nang) and jumped to the ground and died.
On the evening of May 24, in an exchange with Lao Dong reporters, Mr. Nguyen Tai - Director of Quang Nam Regional General Hospital confirmed that a tragic death had just occurred on the hospital grounds.
According to initial information, in the afternoon of the same day, in the lobby of the 7-story building of the hospital, people and medical staff were shocked to discover a man falling from a high floor to the ground. Immediately after the incident occurred, hospital leaders immediately arrived at the scene to check and assess the victim's condition, and at the same time reported to the Ward Police and the Procuracy for coordination in handling.
Through security camera footage, Mr. Nguyen Tai said: "The victim was from outside, not a patient being treated or a family member taking care of the patient here.
Through the investigation process, functional agencies clarified the victim's identity as Mr. H.V. D (42 years old, residing in Bang An Trung block, An Thang ward, Da Nang city). It is known that Mr. D. has a history of mental illness for a long time, is subject to outpatient treatment and must take medicine daily at home. At noon on the same day, Mr. D. voluntarily left home to wander around, then sneaked onto the 7th floor of the hospital's treatment area and committed a foolish act.
Currently, Mr. D.'s relatives are present to coordinate with functional agencies to complete the necessary procedures and bring the victim's body home for funeral arrangements.
Before the painful loss of the family, the Board of Directors and the collective of officials and employees of Quang Nam Regional General Hospital sent their deepest condolences, and at the same time supported the victim's family with 2 million VND to cover immediate expenses.
