Heavily burned by phone in pants pocket exploding

Nghe An - A 31-year-old man in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong suffered severe burns after a phone in his pants bag suddenly exploded.

On the afternoon of March 11, Mr. Lo Thanh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Thai Commune, Tuong Duong District (Nghe An Province), confirmed that a man in the area had a serious problem due to a phone explosion.

According to initial information, on the evening of March 10, Mr. L.V.G. (31 years old, residing in Canh Trap village, Tam Thai commune) walked home after drinking alcohol. While moving, the phone in his pants pocket suddenly exploded, causing Mr. G. to suffer severe burns in the closed area and both legs.

Mr. G. fainted and lay on the roadside. At around 4am on March 11, people working in the fields discovered him lying motionless, about 200m from their house. The victim's clothes and phone were charred.

The family took Mr. G. to Tuong Duong District General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred him to Nghe An Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

According to the leader of Tam Thai commune, the patient's health is currently temporarily stable but he suffered severe burns to his thighs, legs and some other parts.
