Soldiers finish rescue at Lang Nu

Lao Cai - Nearly 400 soldiers of Division 316 and the Border Guard have completed the rescue operation in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune (Bao Yen).

According to information from the People's Committee of Bao Yen district, this afternoon (September 24), after 2 weeks of searching for missing victims, the military forces of Division 316 (Military Region 2) and the Border Guard will withdraw from Lang Nu village.

Previously, on the morning of September 10, immediately after the terrible flash flood occurred in Lang Nu village, the Army force was present with nearly 400 officers and soldiers from Division 316, Lao Cai Provincial Border Guard and Border Guard Intermediate School 24, strengthening two teams of service dogs and trainers to conduct rescue and relief work.

Sharing with PV Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Van Vo (a resident of Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune) said - Today, the entire army has withdrawn. Now, only local people, machinery and district forces continue to search for another 5 days.

“We are very grateful to the military forces for not being afraid of difficulties and hardships to participate in the search and rescue. Hopefully the remaining victims will be found soon,” Mr. Vo said emotionally.

According to information from the Search Command, by the afternoon of September 24, authorities had found another body of a missing victim in Lang Nu village after the flash flood on September 10. Currently, the units are determining the identity of the victim.

Thus, up to now, the number of people who died after the flash flood in Lang Nu has been determined to be 56 people. The number of people who have not been identified or are missing is 11 people. The number of people who are safe up to now is 87 people.
