Vaccine coverage efforts
Buon Don Commune Health Station has been considered a "backbone" in child health care for many years. Despite difficult conditions, remote routes, and limited forces, the medical staff here are still persistent in maintaining expanded immunization.
The Buon Don Commune Health Station has monitored nutrition and regular health check-ups for children in the whole commune, especially in villages and hamlets with a large number of ethnic minorities.
The awareness of health care, especially vaccination, was not really uniform before. Many families are reluctant to get their children vaccinated because of the remote roads or are worried about false rumors about vaccines. This is a major obstacle to local disease prevention work.

To overcome this, every month when the vaccination schedule is reached, the health station not only organizes vaccination at the headquarters but also assigns staff to villages and hamlets to notify, remind the schedule, and encourage parents to bring their children to the right time.
For households living far away, with young children or families with too many difficulties, medical staff are ready to go to their homes to guide and support taking the children to the station.

Ms. H'Biar Ksor (residing in Buon Don commune, Dak Lak province) said: "During my pregnancy, I was examined by doctors and instructed on health care to protect my child in my belly.
When my child was born, I continued to be encouraged to take my child for vaccination. Medical staff also provide detailed instructions on nutritional regimens for children. Thanks to that, my child has developed well and suffered less from illnesses. I myself have gradually recovered after giving birth and my physical condition is stable.

In 2025, Buon Don Commune Health Station strives for the rate of 18-month-old children vaccinated against Measles - Rubella to reach over 90% of the plan; the rate of pregnant women vaccinated with 3 doses of tetanus vaccine also reached over 90%.
Monitoring health, improving nutrition for children
Not only stopping at vaccination, Buon Don Commune Health Station also periodically monitors growth and nutrition for children. Every month, measurement, height measurement, and nutritional assessment sessions are held at the station or at the village or hamlet cultural house.
The results are included in the personal monitoring book to detect early malnutrition, overweight or signs of illness for timely intervention. Cases that need support are instructed on appropriate nutrition, seasonal disease prevention, and safe food hygiene.
Thanks to resources from the National Target Program, propaganda and training on improving nutrition and health care for children and women in the commune has been regularly implemented, bringing many positive signals.

Ms. Ho Thi Hong - an employee of the Buon Don Commune Health Station - shared: "To take care of the health of future preschool children, we try to guide parents on how to cook a balanced diet, taking advantage of the available food sources in the village. When people see their children healthy and gaining weight evenly, they trust and cooperate more.
Ms. Hong added: Thanks to regular monitoring programs, the rate of malnourished children in the locality has decreased every year. Many parents have developed the habit of taking their children for monthly health check-ups.
