In order to raise public awareness, Tan Son Hoa ward (HCMC) has implemented the "Source of Domestic solid Waste Classification Festival" with many creative models such as: receiving garbage for gifts, recycling green stations and digital experience corners "Water Colors". This is a practical activity to reduce environmental pollution and aim for sustainable development for the city.

According to Mr. Le Minh Truyen - Vice Chairman of Tan Son Hoa Ward People's Committee, the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 clearly defines waste classification as the responsibility of each individual and household. In the locality, propaganda does not stop at administrative documents but is deeply integrated into the activities of departments, unions and 28 neighborhoods.
"We assigned neighborhood Party cells to discuss specific approaches and encourage people to do it together. In particular, the ward closely coordinates with schools to include this content in regular activities for students," Mr. Truyen emphasized. Recycled models at the festival are also used by schools as long-term learning tools, creating practical educational significance.

In addition to propaganda, the ward also applies a "rigging" management method by comparing the list of garbage collection fees with public service units and private collection. Addresses that have not paid the fee will be zoning to mobilize directly, because this is a group with a high risk of littering. Thanks to this method, households have basically participated in paying tolls, and the situation of illegal discharge has decreased significantly.
Responding to the movement, Ms. Quynh Chau (residing in Tan Son Hoa ward) shared that classifying garbage has been her lifestyle since childhood. At home, she always maintains two separate trash bins for household waste and recyclable waste (bottles). She also practiced this habit for her children by storing bottles to sell scrap metal and selling the pigs.

"The children have contributed this money to flood relief and help the disadvantaged. I want to teach my children that garbage is not only a thing to throw away but can also create life-saving value," Ms. Chau confided.
The combination of the government's creative propaganda activities and the self-awareness of citizens like Ms. Chau is actively contributing to the goal of reducing the waste load for the city.
