Cars banned from December 23 to repair Cau Lau bridge on National Highway 1A

Quang Nam - From 12:00 on December 23, authorities will divert traffic and prohibit cars from passing through the new Cau Lau bridge on National Highway 1A for repairs.

On December 13, Road Management Area III said that to serve the repair of the new Cau Lau bridge on National Highway 1A, Quang Nam province, the authorities will carry out traffic diversion in 2 phases, about 60 days.

Phase 1 starts at 12:00 on December 23, expected to end at 24:00 on December 31, 2024. Phase 2 starts at 12:00 on February 13, 2025, expected to end at 16:00 on April 5, 2025.

During traffic diversion, cars are prohibited from passing through the new Cau Lau bridge.

Vehicles allowed to travel through Cau Lau Bridge include: Ambulances; buses on the Da Nang - Tam Ky route with a load capacity of less than 5 tons (only allowed to cross the bridge from 6am - 7pm daily and one vehicle at a time); vehicles on emergency missions; motorbikes, scooters, and rudimentary vehicles.

All vehicles allowed to pass through the bridge must strictly follow the instructions of traffic control staff and stay in fixed lanes.

Other vehicles are not allowed to pass through Cau Lau bridge but must follow the traffic diversion plan.

During the time of banning traffic through the new Cau Lau bridge, cars from the North to the South with a load capacity of over 5 tons and passenger cars with over 30 seats, when reaching the intersection between Vinh Dien bypass - National Highway 1A (old) at Km 947+00, must go into the old road for about 1.15km, then turn right onto Phan Thuc Duyen street, continue moving onto the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to go to the South.

Trucks weighing 5 tons or less and passenger vans with 30 seats or less can enter the old National Highway 1A, Phan Thuc Duyen Street, Provincial Road 609, go past the intersection onto the highway, turn left onto Do Dang Tuyen Street, cross Giao Thuy Bridge, then turn left onto Hung Vuong Street, continue along Hung Vuong Street to return to National Highway 1A to go to the South; or can follow the traffic direction for trucks over 5 tons and passenger vans with 30 seats or more.

For vehicles traveling from South to North with a load capacity of over 5 tons and passenger vans with over 30 seats, when arriving at the intersection at Km 972+200 QL1A (Cay Coc intersection), turn left onto QL14E to move onto the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to go North.

For vehicles with a load capacity of 5 tons or less and passenger vans with 30 seats or less, they can enter QL14E at Cay Coc intersection, get on the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to go north.

Or go to the intersection at Km 955+900 QL1A Nam Phuoc intersection (Duy Xuyen district) to Hung Vuong street (QL14H), go straight to Giao Thuy bridge then turn right onto DT609 back to QL1A to go North. In which, vehicles must absolutely comply with the ban on trucks during peak hours of QL14H including: 6:30 - 7:30, 11:00 - 13:30, 17:00 - 18:00.

In addition, vehicles traveling on the North-South route that do not need to go to Dien Ban town or Duy Xuyen district can choose directions according to the remote traffic diversion plan.

Vehicles traveling on the North-South route do not need to receive or deliver goods or pick up or drop off passengers in Quang Nam province. It is recommended to travel on the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway and Ho Chi Minh road.
