According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, surveillance cameras have been installed at all level crossings with barrier guards and automatic warning level crossings. The system operates 24/24 hours, monitoring the status of warning devices, the performance of tasks of level crossing guards and promptly detecting unusual situations. All data is transmitted directly to the monitoring center.
When violations are detected, the railway unit will extract images and transfer them to functional forces and traffic police for verification and handling of remote fines.
According to the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security, the violations recorded are mainly acts of intentionally crossing the level crossing when the red light has been turned on or the barrier is lowered. These are acts that pose a high risk of railway traffic accidents.
Typically, the accident on the evening of June 7 in Hanoi, when a sand truck crossed the railway in Thuong Tin commune, then collided with passenger train SE19. Through initial verification, at the time of the accident, the automatic warning system at the level crossing was operating. The entire incident was recorded by surveillance cameras. Regarding the above incident, the Traffic Police Department has requested the Hanoi City Police to urgently investigate and clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals; if there is sufficient basis, the case will be prosecuted for handling according to regulations.
According to the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, from May 15 to June 1, the Railway sector provided images of 4 violations to the unit for verification and handling. These cases all violated traffic light signals at level crossings and were fined a total of 53 million VND.
Or recently in Dong Nai, on June 4, a driver driving a car with license plate 60C-281. XX crossed the level crossing when the red warning light had turned on. After receiving images from the Railway industry, the Traffic Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police verified and fined the violator from 18-20 million VND, and at the same time revoked the driver's license for 1-3 months.
The above cases show the effectiveness of applying technology in monitoring and detecting violations, and at the same time contribute to improving the effectiveness of coordination between the Railway industry and the traffic police force in ensuring traffic safety at intersections between roads and railways.
In addition to the involvement of functional forces, the Traffic Police Department also calls on people to continue to promote the role of community supervision, becoming "magic eyes" contributing to protecting railway traffic safety. When detecting violations, people can record images, take photos and provide information to functional agencies for timely handling.
