On July 20, according to information from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), to meet the progress requirements of the Prime Minister, ACV has urgently deployed and completed the selection of contractors in special cases for packages during the construction phase to deploy the second runway and held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 30, 2025.
Up to now, the contractor consortium has mobilized machinery, equipment, personnel, gathered materials, and laboratories to serve the construction and deploy items such as runway foundation, taxiways and drainage systems.
It is expected that this package will be completed synchronously with the passenger terminal project and put into operation in June 2026 according to the required schedule.
Previously, package 4.6, construction of the first runway, taxiway, and aircraft parking lot (constructed by the ACC - Truong Son - Vinaconex - Vinadic - Cienco4 - ACJC647 consortium), was completed and technically exploited the runway before April 30, 2025 (3 months ahead of the contract).

At the entire Long Thanh airport project site, units are still maintaining the construction progress with hundreds of deployment teams, mobilizing nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and nearly 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress of the packages with the goal of basically completing the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 in accordance with the Prime Minister's request.
