In recent times, the situation of smuggling and illegal transportation of lobster seeds from abroad into Vietnam by road, air, river and sea has been very common and complicated, leading to a very high risk of infection with pathogens (white spot, milk disease, etc.), poor quality shrimp, large financial losses for shrimp buyers, seriously affecting the development of the lobster farming industry, violating the laws on veterinary quarantine and tariffs.
In order to put an end to the above violations and losses and to strictly implement the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 22/CD-TTg dated January 31, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct departments, branches and local authorities at all levels to synchronously implement solutions according to the provisions of the Law on Veterinary Medicine, the Law on Fisheries, documents guiding the implementation of the laws and urgently organize specific measures.
Regarding this issue, Can Tho City People's Committee has issued a document on coordination to prevent and handle illegal import of lobster seeds.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, the City Police, the Can Tho Market Management Department, the City Customs Department and the People's Committees of districts to deploy coordinated solutions to prevent and handle the smuggling of lobster seeds according to the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
