Can Tho advances more than 410 billion VND to upgrade 7km of National Highway 91

Can Tho - Can Tho City People's Committee has allocated more than 410 billion VND in advance capital for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7).

Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Viet Truong has just signed and issued a Decision on advancing the capital plan for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7), Can Tho City, from local budget sources.

According to the Decision, Can Tho City People's Committee assigned more than 410 billion VND in advance capital plan for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7), invested by the City Construction Investment Project Management Board, from local budget sources.

Of the above 410 billion VND, the revenue exceeding land use in 2023 is more than 196 billion VND, the revenue exceeding lottery in 2023 is more than 213 billion VND.

The City People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, the Director of the Department of Finance, the Director of the Can Tho State Treasury, the Director of the City Construction Investment Project Management Board and heads of relevant agencies and units to implement, ensuring strict compliance with regulations.

The Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7) was approved by the People's Committee of Can Tho City in July 2024, with a total investment of more than 7,237 billion VND, from the central and local budgets.

The starting point of the project is at the intersection of Cach Mang Thang Tam - Hung Vuong - Tran Phu - Nguyen Trai streets in Ninh Kieu district. The end point connects to Km7 - Km14 in Binh Thuy district. The total length of the route is more than 7km, 23m wide, 6 lanes, designed speed 60km/h.

According to the report of the City Land Fund Development Center, there are about 994 households, individuals and 84 organizations affected by the project. The total cost of site clearance is about 5,556 billion VND, the need for resettlement is about 300 plots.

Can Tho City Construction Investment Project Management Board informed that the Board has completed the selection and implementation of 5 bidding packages; is continuing to select the bidding package for construction survey consultancy, construction drawing design preparation for the route (Km0 - Km7), the bidding package for construction drawing design preparation for Binh Thuy bridge, the bidding package for consulting on reviewing construction drawing design - cost estimate to implement the work of making design and cost estimate for the project.

It is expected that in the second quarter of 2025, the unit will organize the selection of contractors for construction, supervision, construction insurance and start construction of the project.

The Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7), Can Tho City is a Group A project, a level 1 road traffic project, with implementation period from 2023 - 2027. The overall goal of the project is to complete the traffic infrastructure, striving to build Can Tho into a modern and civilized city, basically becoming an industrial city.
