On November 21, the Ben Dam Port Management Board (Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) said that it had sent a document to Mai Linh Tay Do Joint Stock Company (Mai Linh Tay Do) requesting payment of overdue debts.
According to the document sent to Mai Linh Tay Do, Ben Dam Port Management Board (MB) requested the enterprise to comply with the signed contract and pay off overdue outstanding debts with a total amount of nearly 389 million VND. Of which, the debt for seaport services as of October 10 is more than 302 million VND; the money for collecting passenger tickets using station and seaport services is more than 66 million VND, in addition to the deposit money, discount money...
According to the Management Board, despite many times of communication and sending written requests, the enterprise has not implemented it, nor has it had a plan to pay the overdue debt. The above revenues are career revenues and service revenues, accounted for according to State regulations.
"The above debt corresponds to more than 1 year of service fees of this unit at Ben Dam port. The enterprise kept paying, then stopped paying, and it has continued until now," Mr. Do Cong Thinh - Head of the Management Board - explained.
Not only is Mai Linh Tay Do being "claimed debt" by authorities, agents are also demanding a refund of the deposit for selling passenger train tickets when it temporarily stops operating.
A ticket agent in Vung Tau City said that the Can Tho - Con Dao high-speed ferry route managed and operated by Mai Linh Tay Do has been suspended since July 2024, but when asked to refund deposits, limit money... this company avoided resolving the issue, even though the two parties had signed a contract termination.
"We have been in contact since July 2024, but it has not been resolved yet," an agent informed.
Faced with the situation where Mai Linh Tay Do is holding deposits, limits and is slow to resolve debts..., the Ben Dam Port Management Board and some agents said that if the business continues to delay and avoid resolving the issue, they will invite the authorities to intervene, or file a lawsuit in a competent court.
On the morning of November 21, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper spoke with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mai Linh Tay Do and was asked to contact Mr. Dong Ngoc Danh - General Director and provide a phone number. However, the reporter contacted the phone number provided many times but no one answered.
