As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi Expressway, the Km103 section in Dong Tam town (Cho Moi) has experienced prolonged subsidence.
The road surface is peeling, many locations are bare sharp rocks, the roadbed is rough, making it dangerous for vehicles to travel through the area, especially at night and in bad weather.

This expressway has a total length of 40km, with an investment capital of about VND2,700 billion under the BT form, started in 2014, opened to traffic since 2017, playing a role in connecting Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces with the Northeast region.
However, after a period of exploitation, the section through Cho Moi district has shown signs of deterioration and subsidence, affecting the traffic safety of the area.
After the reflection, the authorities have repaired and fixed the peeling and subsidence of the road surface, helping to ensure safe traffic.
On June 6, the reporter noted that at Km103, the road surface has been re-paved with a new layer of asphalt, replacing the previous peeling areas. The rough, low-lying locations have been patched, and there are no more gravel and gravel.

Regularly traveling on this route, Mr. Vi Van Huy (Cho Moi) said that in the past, every time he passed the damaged road, he had to slow down and easily slipped, especially when it was raining or at night.
"The old road is full of gravel and rough, motorbikes passing by just need to steer strongly to avoid falling. Now the road surface is flatter, no longer worried about slipping on the cake or hitting rocks and gravel. Going back is much more secure, Mr. Huy shared.
Similarly, Ms. Tran Thi Sinh, a resident living near the road, also shared that before, every time a vehicle passed by, there was a lot of dust flying everywhere, covering the grass and trees on both sides of the road.
"Since the road was repaired, there is no longer any scene of people having to close their eyes because of the dust. Not only does it make travel convenient and easier, but it also avoids the risk of possible accidents," Ms. Sinh added.

Previously, speaking with reporters, Mr. Ma Ngoc Dang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Tam town (Cho Moi) said that the reason for the serious subsidence of Km103 in the past may be related to the geology of the area.
Previously, the construction unit had also overcome the situation many times, but the situation still recurs, especially after the historic storm that occurred in September 2024.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to monitor and evaluate the whole to have a thorough solution to avoid a similar situation in the future.
