Rescue of Phu Yen fishermen in distress in Truong Sa

A fisherman from Phu Yen province was fishing in Truong Sa when he had an accident. His hand was caught in an ice crusher and he was given timely emergency aid.

On the morning of December 12, the Song Tu Tay Island infirmary, Truong Sa island district, was monitoring after providing emergency care to fisherman Le Lai (52 years old, residing in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen) who had one hand caught in an ice crusher. At the time of the accident, this fisherman was fishing in Truong Sa.

Accordingly, at noon on December 10, while fishing for seafood in the waters near Song Tu Tay Island, fisherman Le Lai - a crew member of fishing boat PY 92122 TS, working as a purse seine fisherman - had his left hand caught in an ice crusher, causing him to bleed profusely.

The patient was given first aid by the crew on the ship, had sugar applied to the wound, was bandaged to stop the bleeding on the spot, and then moved to Song Tu Tay Island for emergency treatment.

Military doctors performed surgery to clean the wound, remove necrotic tissue, reconstruct the stump of the third finger, suture the wound of the first finger of the left hand, administer fluids, antibiotics, pain relief, and monitor the stump after surgery. After nearly two hours of performing professional measures, the surgery was successful.
