In the last days of May, the construction atmosphere at the Ngoi Phat bridge construction site became more urgent than ever.
In the hot summer sun in the Lao Cai border area, groups of workers are still diligently working, taking advantage of each favorable hour to complete important items of the project.
Ngoi Phat bridge belongs to the project to build a road running along the Red River connecting Ban Vuoc border gate to Y Ty, the section from Km4+300 to Km7+500, the connecting branch line and the bridge across the Ngoi Phat stream.

The project was approved by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee according to Decision No. 2805 dated November 1, 2024, belonging to group B with a total investment of 380 billion VND. The investor is the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
In which, Package No. 14 of Ngoi Phat bridge construction is worth more than 114.6 billion VND, constructed by the Ngoi Phat Bridge Joint Venture including Lao Cai Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company and Lao Cai Construction and Inspection Joint Stock Company.
According to records at the scene, the underlying structure of the project, including the abutment and bridge piers on the basic bored pile foundation system, has been basically completed. This is considered the most difficult item because it is heavily affected by geology and construction conditions along the stream.

Currently, units are focusing on installing girders, constructing bridge deck slabs and completing the approach road system at both ends of the bridge.
The Ngoi Phat bridge project is built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete at Km4+534.05. The bridge is 198.2m long, 22.5m wide; of which the vehicle part is 20m wide.
The upper part structure includes 5 spans of I-shaped cross-section beams made of prestressed reinforced concrete, each beam 33m long. The horizontal cross-section arranges 10 beam slabs, the distance between beams is 2.25m.

The approach roads at both ends of the bridge are designed according to grade III delta road standards with a design speed of 80km/h, a roadbed width of 22.5m and a road surface width of 20m.
The project started in August 2025, the construction time according to the contract is 540 days.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang The Hoi - Project Director - said that construction in erratic mountain weather conditions, especially when the rainy season is approaching, makes the pressure of progress increasing.
According to Mr. Hoi, so far the contractor has completed the entire drilled pile item, completed the construction of 2 abutments and 4 bridge piers, and completed the casting of 50 girder slabs. The actual value of the package currently reaches over 75%.
The investor requests the supervision unit to regularly be present at the construction site to coordinate and organize construction in accordance with weather conditions, ensuring labor safety and project quality.
Up to now, the underlying structure is basically completed, the main remaining volume is for girder installation and bridge deck construction," Mr. Hoi said.

To ensure progress, the contractor has divided into many construction teams, increased manpower, machinery and closely followed the site. Items are implemented according to the design documents, strictly controlling techniques in each stage.
When completed, Ngoi Phat bridge and the road along the Red River are expected to contribute to strengthening traffic connections in the border area, creating favorable conditions for trade and promoting socio-economic development in the locality.
