speeding up the completion of Long Thanh airport
According to the plan, all component projects at the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1 must be determined to basically complete in 2025, earlier than the previous plan (completed in 2026). At the same time, traffic routes connecting Long Thanh airport must also be completed in 2025 to put Long Thanh airport into synchronous operation.
Currently, package 5.10 at component project 3 - construction of the passenger terminal is a particularly important package. This package started in July 2023, with a contract completion date of November 30, 2026 (39 months). However, the progress was later adjusted to basically complete the construction before December 31, 2025.
Mr. Duong Quang Dien - Permanent Deputy Director of the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board - said that this is a completely new project with many items being constructed at the same time, requiring strict compliance with technical procedures and ensuring connectivity between packages. The Management Board has built a scientific construction progress, coordinating with contractors to find solutions to minimize time, ensuring quality and safety for this key project.
To date, this package has achieved a construction output of over 35%. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has been continuing to discuss in detail with Vietur contractor and organize a foreign working group to meet with equipment supply partners, negotiate, promote earlier equipment handover, meeting the basic goal of completing the project in 2025. ACV and contractors strive to focus all resources to basically complete the entire construction before December 31, 2025.
After the airport is completed, the connecting transport projects must also be completed
In addition to component project 3, component projects 1, 2 and 4 of the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1 are also being accelerated. For component project 1, the headquarters of all State management agencies have started construction, while the headquarters of the plant and animal quarantine agency is expected to start construction before May 2025.
Component project 2 of works serving flight management includes 2 main items: air traffic control towers and specialized equipment. In particular, the air traffic control tower has completed the rough construction, is installing a steel structure on the top of the tower, expected to be completed on April 30, 2025, then installing specialized equipment, testing and putting it into operation from December 2025.
For component project 4, investors have been selected to implement 6/6 priority investment items including 2 food supply areas, 2 aircraft cleaning and maintenance areas for ground vehicles, 2 aircraft maintenance areas (hangers 1 and 4).
According to Mr. Duong Quang Dien, in addition to the airport progress, it is necessary to expand the main traffic routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh airport as soon as possible, such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway... Currently, the traffic density on this expressway is quite dense, so it is necessary to expand soon so that when the Long Thanh airport project is put into operation, the routes connecting Long Thanh airport with key areas such as Ho Chi Minh City ensure convenient passenger time during the process of carrying out aviation procedures.
Regarding the T1 and T2 traffic routes connecting to Long Thanh airport, the implementation output has reached nearly 76%, expected to open the T1 route to technical traffic on April 30, 2025, complete the T2 route in July 2025, complete the intersections, accept all, and put into use on September 2, 2025 (3 months ahead of schedule).
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is nearly 54km long, with a total investment of VND17,800 billion, starting construction in June 2023. Up to now, the 19.5km section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau has been cleared, construction has reached 85%, expected to open to traffic on April 30, 2025. Meanwhile, the progress of the two component projects through Dong Nai is still slow, the locality is required to urgently resolve raw materials, complete the embankment before June 30 and the entire project before December 31, 2025.
