Binh Thuan - At one point, 6 high-speed ships were operating the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy island route at the same time, but currently there are only 3 ships left.

Phu Quy island district is located in Binh Thuan province, about 56 nautical miles from the mainland (Phan Thiet). High-speed trains run on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route between two and 15 minutes and two and a half minutes.

At one point, 5 shipping lines with 6 high-speed ships also exploited this route, including: Superdong Phu Quy I, Superdong Phu Quy II, Trung Trac, Phu Quy Express, Phu Quy Island, Chan Kha Phu Quy. After that, the Phu Quy Island high-speed ship stopped operating. In May 2024, the Chan Kha Phu Quy ship issued a notice to temporarily suspend operations to get on track to make water and has been on hold until now.

Most recently, the Phu Quy Express high-speed ship temporarily suspended inland waterway transport activities on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route and vice versa from March 17, 2025. The company said it will replace other ships operating on this route to achieve better and more modern speed, shortening travel time. The Phu Quy Express will serve the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route.

Although it is about to enter the peak of Phu Quy tourism, the smoothest and most beautiful sea season of the year, from March 17, the Phan Thiet inland waterway transport route to Phu Quy island and vice versa will only have 3 speedboats operating, including Trung Trac ship carrying a maximum of 598 passengers and 2 Superdong ships with a capacity of more than 550 passengers.

In recent times, high-speed trains have helped transport people, tourists and essential goods to Phu Quy Island every day. Goods and seafood from Phu Quy island sent to Phan Thiet are also easier.

Currently, the departure time of high-speed trains also depends on the time when the tide reaches its peak, because Phan Thiet transport port is filled with silt but the flow has not been dredged. In addition, bullet trains must also rely on the weather, wave height and wind speeds to decide whether they will operate or not.

For example, the Superdong Phu Quy high-speed ship and the Trung Trac ship both announced the temporary suspension of the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route and vice versa from March 18 to March 21, 2025 due to bad weather, waves from 3.5m - 4.5m high, winds of level 7, 8. The suspension is to ensure the safety and health of passengers.
