On November 17, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Tri province confirmed that the unit is coordinating with functional agencies to conduct DNA testing to clarify information about a martyr's remains found along with a relic with his name engraved on it.
Previously, during the process of taking DNA samples at grave number 178, row 9, lot 12, Hexagon area 1 - National Martyrs Cemetery Road 9 (Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province), a martyr's relic was discovered to be a pen. On the pen were engraved images of a coconut tree, a pair of doves, a pagoda and the words XUAN DAI or XUAN LAI.
According to the collection records, this is one of eight graves (one with partial information and seven with unidentified information) collected by Dakrong District Military Command at Hill 510 (Dong Tien) in Huong Hiep Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province on July 25, 2000.
Currently, biological samples of the martyr's remains have been taken and the dossier has been completed to send for examination according to regulations.
The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Tri province said that any family of a martyr who died at Hill 510, Dong Tien or Dakrong and has related information as mentioned above, should contact the unit to carry out DNA testing procedures.
