On December 7, the Border Guard of Quang Tri province said that it had just rescued 4 fishermen in distress when a fishing boat with registration number BV 93600TS sank in the sea area about 500m southwest of Hon La island.
The incident occurred at around 6am the same day, when the fishing boat driven by Mr. Thai Quoc Toan (captain) and 3 crew members had a water damage and sank.
After receiving the report from Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vy - an employee of Mui Ong fishing port, Roon Border Guard Station mobilized forces to support.
Fishing boat BV 93601-TS, controlled by captain Dao Duy Quang, approached and rescued 4 crew members on the boat in distress. The crew members were safely taken to the BV 93601-TS and are now in stable health.
According to information from Roon Border Guard Station, the two fishing vessels are both owned by Ms. Le Thi Hue (Long Hai, Ho Chi Minh City). Before the incident, the ship left Mui Ong Port on the afternoon of December 6 and anchored in the waters in front of Hon La Port to prepare to depart the next morning.
After the incident, the Border Guard informed the Provincial Border Guard Command, and sent 4 officers and 1 military doctor and the ST 660 boat to check the health of the crew members and support handling the situation.
