At the plenary session of the Mekong Delta Startup Forum - 2nd time in 2024 with the theme "Green Economy - New driving force for development" held on November 16 in Dong Thap province, the Mekong Green Transformation Network was launched.
Delegates counted down the opening ceremony and performed the Green Seed Sowing, demonstrating their commitment to a bright future for the "green game" in the region.
The Mekong Green Transformation Network is a public-private partnership initiative to promote sustainable solutions, environmental protection and economic development in the Mekong Delta region.
The network includes a Technical Advisory Board, a Secretariat and specialized Working Groups. These groups include: Green Agriculture - developing sustainable agriculture initiatives and digital agriculture; Green Tourism - promoting sustainable and responsible tourism models; Green Mekong Youth - aiming to raise awareness and entrepreneurship capacity of young people in the environmental field.
The network operates through a mechanism of developing regular action plans, holding quarterly or 6-monthly meetings, publishing specialized newsletters and organizing other specific activities. In particular, the public-private partnership mechanism is the key to realizing sustainable development initiatives for the Mekong Delta region.
Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat - Minister of Science and Technology - acknowledged that this year's theme has truly demonstrated the aspirations of the transformation of the Mekong Delta. In recent times, the Mekong Delta region has implemented drastically, recording many positive results in the innovation function; demonstrating the efforts in implementing the project from the Government by businesses and people in the whole region.
The Minister hopes that an innovation center will soon be established in the Mekong Delta so that the initiatives of this year's forum will have the opportunity to be realized and promoted.
Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia said that after this forum, the Organizing Committee will collect all opinions of delegates at the Forum to develop and complete a report to submit to the Prime Minister and Government leaders, in order to promote green transformation and sustainable development for the Mekong Delta region.
At the plenary session of the Forum, the Organizing Committee of the Mekong Innovation Competition 2024 announced the ranking of the Competition's awards for 10 excellent projects participating in the Final round. The project "Circular value chain to reduce emissions in the Alpha Amin aquaculture industry" by author Nguyen Trung Tinh (Dong Thap province) won First Prize.
