"We're starting to clean up and start over. I have 3 warehouses with more than 6 tons of rice, all of which are soaked, please come and bring it back to make food for the chickens" - Mr. Ha Van Long, a trader at Xanh Market, wrote on his personal page. The short sharing flow that contains sadness after the disaster.
Not only Mr. Long, hundreds of businesses in Xanh Market and Song Bang Market are left penniless. From clothes, electronics, dry food to machinery and refrigerated equipment - all were swept away or damaged by the fierce floodwaters.
According to the Thuc Phan Ward Market Management Board, in the two recent floods, Xanh Market was flooded more than 2m deep. The entire electrical system, pumps, freezers, and stalls were destroyed. Goods such as rice, candy, dried pho noodles, fish meat, seafood, fruits... were all moldy or washed away. Estimated damage is hundreds of billions of VND.
At Song Bang market, the situation is similar. The flood level rose more than 1.2m, the entire first floor - the busiest business district - was submerged. Electronics, electronics, handbags, shoes, watches, glasses... were completely damaged. Equipment such as TVs, magnetic cookers, rice cookers, loudspeakers have been soaked in water for many days and are considered abandoned. The total damage here is estimated at about 37 billion VND.
Not only were goods lost, but the infrastructure of the two markets also seriously degraded.
Faced with the great damage, the Standing Committee of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee has agreed in principle for the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Construction, the People's Committee of Thuc Phan Ward and relevant agencies to study, establish new construction projects or renovate, upgrade, and even relocate Xanh Market to another more suitable location.
After storms No. 10 and 11, prolonged heavy rain caused the entire Xanh Market to be deeply flooded for many hours. The electricity and drainage systems were severely damaged. Business households suffered great damage to assets and facilities, so it is necessary to study plans to renovate or relocate the market," the announcement of the Standing Committee of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee stated.
According to the reporter's records, the plan to relocate or build a new market in a high location is receiving consensus from people and traders.
"The market has been renovated or moved to a higher place, which is great. Traders are more secure and do not worry about losing their assets. People going shopping is also more convenient and cleaner, said Ms. Mong Khanh Trang (Thuc Phan ward).
