The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just issued a notice on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.
Accordingly, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 from Saturday, January 25 (ie December 26, year of Giap Thin) to Sunday, February 2 (ie January 5, year of At Ty).
The break lasts 9 days, including 5 official Tet holidays and 4 weekly days off as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
For the business sector, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requires employers to choose one of three Tet holiday options.
One is 1 day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 4 days of the year of At Ty. Two is 2 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 3 days of the year of At Ty. Three is 3 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 2 days of the year of At Ty.
On the occasion of Victory Day and International Labor Day in 2025, people nationwide will have 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday, April 30, to Sunday, May 4. Workers will work on Saturday, April 26 to make up for the missed time.
On the occasion of National Day, September 2, 2025, civil servants and employees will have a day off from Saturday, August 30, to Tuesday, September 2. This holiday includes 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekly days off.
On this occasion, businesses can take Tuesday, September 2 off and choose 1 of 2 days, Monday, September 1 or Wednesday, September 3.
In addition, employers must notify employees of the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays on September 2, 2025 30 days in advance. If these holidays coincide with weekly holidays, employees will be given compensatory days off on the following day.
