Today (January 2, 2025), hundreds of remaining Mong Cai households whose fields were flooded with saltwater due to the construction of the Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway received financial support from the project investor.
Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway, more than 80km long, of which the section from Tien Yen district to Mong Cai is invested by Van Don Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited under the BOT form.
During construction, some contractors caused salt water to affect agricultural land of hundreds of households in Hai Tien and Quang Nghia communes, Mong Cai city.
In 2023, Van Don Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited paid the first round of saltwater intrusion support to 106 households, with a total amount of nearly 850 million VND.
In the second phase, today (January 2, 2025), the investor of Tien Yen - Mong Cai expressway will pay the remaining 107 households in both Hai Tien and Quang Nghia communes, with a total amount of nearly 573 million VND.
The Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway was inaugurated and put into use on September 1, 2022, making Quang Ninh the locality with the longest expressway kilometers in the country at that time, with a total of 176km.
The Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway project has a total length of 80.23km with a total investment of nearly 13,000 billion VND, and was constructed within over 500 days from the completion of site clearance.
The project consists of two independent parts: the 16km long Van Don - Tien Yen route and the approximately 64km long Tien Yen - Mong Cai route.
Of which, the Van Don - Tien Yen route has a total investment of 3,658 billion VND from the Quang Ninh provincial budget.
The Tien Yen - Mong Cai route has a total investment of more than 9,000 billion VND. Of which, the Quang Ninh provincial budget supports the construction of auxiliary works with 490 billion VND, the investor's capital is 8,623 billion VND, invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, BOT contract.
This highway has a design speed of 120km/h, with 4 motor vehicle lanes and 2 emergency lanes.
With this highway, the Hanoi - Mong Cai route only takes about 3 hours by car, instead of 6-7 hours as before on this unique, small road with many curves and slopes.
