On April 9, information from the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee said that the Ministry of Construction has just assigned Project Management Board 85 to prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum Expressway Project, to be implemented in the 2025-2026 period.
The project is 136 km long, 4 lanes scale, design speed of 80–100 km/h, cross section 24.75m. The route passes Duc Pho town, Ba To district (Quang Ngai) 58 km long and Kon Plong, Kon Ray and Kon Tum districts (Kon Tum) are 78 km long. The first point of intersection with the North - South highway in the East in Quang Ngai; The end point connects the North - South highway in the west in Kon Tum.
The total estimated investment is VND35,395 billion, belonging to the group of important national projects. The two provinces of Kon Tum and Quang Ngai agreed to propose the Central Government to invest in construction, with site clearance being undertaken by the locality, committed to completing it in 2026.
The province is also proactively developing a resettlement plan to ensure that people have better new housing.
When completed, the expressway will create inter-regional connections, contributing to making Mang Den a national eco-tourism center, promoting the economy and society of the Central - Central Highlands region, reducing logistics costs and creating favorable conditions for agricultural and forestry exports through Dung Quat port.
