Vinamilk's program supports more than 6 billion VND for students in flood-affected areas

Viên An |

More than 1.2 million Vinamilk nutritional products, equivalent to 6 billion VND, were supported for students in difficult circumstances in provinces affected by the Yagi storm and flood. This is Vinamilk's commitment from the program "Overcoming natural disasters - Stepping forward to the future", in coordination with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in the form of employees and the community contributing 1, Vinamilk will contribute 1 more, to double the number of supported products.

Whatever the community contributes, Vinamilk contributes accordingly to double the support.

In this program, Vinamilk called on employees to contribute by placing orders for milk and drinks to send to the people of the North. For each support order placed on the program's website, Vinamilk will match at a ratio of 1:1 to double the number of products donated to the provinces affected by natural disasters.

All products purchased in the program will be donated through the Central Youth Union to children, students in difficult circumstances, and families suffering heavy losses in provinces affected by storms and floods.

As of September 30, in just over 2 weeks of implementation, more than 7,100 orders have been successfully placed and delivered to local people. The equivalent amount is more than 3.4 billion VND, surpassing Vinamilk's initial target (3 billion VND). Thus, the total value of the support products will be more than 6 billion VND after Vinamilk's additional contribution.

Sharing about the program, Mr. Vu Tuan Khang, Regional Sales Director of Vinamilk said: “This activity initially came from the desire of Vinamilk employees to share with people and children when Typhoon Yagi hit. Within 24 hours of the idea, teams from technology, business, logistics, etc. quickly implemented and launched the website so that employees could contribute. Thanks to that, all information about orders, contributions, receiving places, etc. are clearly displayed, everyone can follow and check. Thanks to that, the program continues to spread and receive support from both customers and the community.”

This program is still being implemented to provide additional support for students returning to school after the storm and flood in difficult and deprived conditions.

Join hands to care for disadvantaged students

Typhoon Yagi hit at the time when students were starting a new school year. Therefore, in many places, students are now able to return to school. Especially in remote, mountainous areas in the North, going to school is a great effort from students, teachers, parents... but now, the difficulties are even greater due to the consequences of the storm.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, commented: “Not only in this program, but right after Typhoon Yagi, Vinamilk proactively contacted the Central Youth Union, as well as local forces in affected areas to take many practical actions, transferring a large number of products to support people in flood-hit areas.”

Mr. Triet also emphasized that during this period, Vinamilk's support of products is very suitable to supplement nutrition for people affected by recent natural disasters, especially children.

Mr. Vu Tan Khang, Vinamilk representative, added: “Vinamilk always pays special attention to children and adolescents. We hope that this support will help them improve their nutrition and health, and also provide mental encouragement when they return to school after the storm and flood.”

In addition, more than 3,500 gifts and many other supports equivalent to nearly 500 million VND have been directly given by Vinamilk employees to people, children, the elderly, farmers, soldiers, volunteers... in nearly the past month. The company also cooperated with distributors to implement a non-profit sales program for organizations and charity groups to donate to flood-affected areas.
