On August 3, Lao Cai Provincial Police informed that Lam Giang Commune Police had just helped a family find their lost loved one for 48 years. The reunion after nearly half a century took place in the emotion of family members and witnesses.
Previously, on the evening of July 27, Lam Giang Commune Police received a call and text message from Ms. Ha Thi Huan (Hoai Duc commune, Hanoi City) requesting support in finding a loved one who had been missing for many years.
According to family information provided, 48 years ago, Ms. Ha Thi Denh (born in 1949, from Quang Hung commune, Phu Cu district, Hung Yen province; now Quang Xa commune, Hung Yen province) in a business trip to Lang Thip station area, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province (now Lam Giang commune, Lao Cai province) unfortunately fell seriously ill.
In force majeure circumstances, Ms. Denh had to send her 8-year-old daughter named Anh to a local family with a man named Quy to take care of her to return to her hometown for treatment.
After that, the family repeatedly returned to search but without results. Before passing away, Mrs. Denh still always yearned for a day to find her lost daughter.
Upon receiving the information, Lam Giang Commune Police urgently intervened to verify.
From the very meager data provided by the family, commune police officers exploited the National Population Database, combined professional measures, and based on their understanding of local customs and habits to review and compare each focal point.
After nearly 30 hours of continuous work, the police force identified Ms. Trieu Thi Chip, residing in Lien Son village, Lam Giang commune (formerly named Anh), as the adopted daughter of Mr. Trieu Van Quy and also the lost daughter of Ms. Ha Thi Denh.
Immediately after verification, Lam Giang Commune Police connected a video call between Ms. Trieu Thi Chip and her aunt in Hung Yen. The first conversation after nearly half a century helped family members recognize each other, confirming that the missing relative for 48 years was correct.
On August 2nd, Lam Giang Commune Police organized a meeting for Ms. Trieu Thi Chip to reunite with her relatives at the unit's headquarters. After nearly half a century of separation, choked hugs and tears of happiness have closed the long search journey through many generations in the family.
