Workers are busy, rain or shine
Amid the harsh sunshine of May, reporters were present at the D1 road repair site, recording the urgent working atmosphere of the workers. The sound of excavators and road rollers still resounds continuously.
Mr. Le Thanh Phuong - a cran driver with many years of experience - shared that he is used to outdoor work, rain or shine. What motivates him and his colleagues to always try is the image of people struggling to travel on this potholed road.
According to Mr. Phuong, every time a section of road is leveled and seen people move more conveniently, workers like him have more motivation to continue working.
"We, the workers, always proactively adjust our work to suit the weather. For example, after it rained and the road was wet, we focused on transporting rocks and rolling the road surface," Mr. Phuong added.

Sharing the same spirit, Mr. Tran Van Binh - a rolling worker - said that his job is to ensure the road surface is flat and sturdy. Although the work seems simple, it requires meticulousness and high concentration.
According to Mr. Binh, sometimes he works continuously for dozens of hours and is tired, but thinking about contributing to building a better road for his hometown, all the fatigue disappears.
"The workers are working continuously, not having a day off on Saturdays and Sundays, hoping that the project will be completed earlier than expected, helping people travel more conveniently," said Mr. Binh.
Complete the repair of section D1 by mid-June 2025
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhan - Chairman of Duyen Hai Town People's Committee - confirmed the state of road D1 from Duyen Hai Town to Duyen Hai District for nearly 2 years.
"Currently, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the investment policy to renovate and upgrade road No. 1 (D1), No. 2 for the period 2026-2028 (prepared for implementation in 2025) with a total cost of over 83 billion VND, and at the same time install a lighting system of more than 12 billion VND to ensure traffic safety for people", Mr. Nhan said.
On the contractor's side, Mr. Huynh Trung Dang - Director of Trung Dang Company Limited - said that the entire length of route D1 is about 6.5km and there are up to 240 damaged points that need to be repaired.

According to Mr. Dang, the unit has developed a detailed construction plan and mobilized maximum resources for machinery, equipment and labor. The company has arranged continuous working hours for workers at the construction site, regardless of sunny days or rainy days, including Saturdays and Sundays.
"According to the original plan, the repair was 60 days. However, currently, all officers and workers of the company are determined to shorten the construction time to 45 days, and it is expected to complete the entire project by mid-June 2025," Mr. Dang added.
