Traffic police go up the mountains of the Northwest to help workers return home for Tet

Khánh Linh |

On the journey back to their hometowns for Tet, workers are energized by small but meaningful gifts from the traffic police.

On December 27 (January 26), National Highway 6, National Highway 70, Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh road, National Highway 32, going to the Northwestern provinces such as Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau were still crowded with people passing by.

In the middle of the road across the mountainside, covered in thick fog, old motorbikes carrying a lot of belongings followed each other, piercing the white mist to return home after a year of hard work.

These days, at the rest stop set up by Moc Chau Town Police at Km193+800, National Highway 6 - Sao Xanh Hotel, gifts with cakes, bottles of water and snacks are neatly displayed, waiting for workers returning home for Tet to pass by and help them.

Informing reporters, Senior Lieutenant Le Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Youth Union of Moc Chau Town Police shared that the program was held from December 25 to 27.

According to Senior Lieutenant Tuan, this program comes from the fact that every year, during Tet, workers from Hanoi and neighboring provinces flock to Highway 6 to return home.

Among them are many poor workers who, in order to save money, do not dare to go to rest stops but stop to rest along the way.

Moc Chau police coordinated with relevant units, called for support from organizations and individuals and opened a rest stop on National Highway 6. Here, volunteers distributed free water and cakes and helped workers rest, ensuring their health and alertness to participate in traffic safely.

In addition to free water distribution, at the relay point there is also a program to "Trade in old helmets and exchange them for new ones" for workers.

According to Moc Chau Town Police, up to now, nearly 3,000 small gifts have been given to workers returning home for Tet.

Traveling nearly 400km from Hanoi to Thuan Chau, Son La, the cold of the Northwest region left Mr. Quang Van Hop's (Bo Muoi, Thuan Chau, Son La) hands frozen and bruised.

Receiving a gift from the traffic police, Mr. Hop shared: "Traveling a long distance in the rain, wind and cold, receiving such encouraging gifts makes me very happy. I chose to ride a motorbike because I have to take it home to get a means of transportation, moreover, the price of parking a motorbike during Tet is quite high."

Following the stream of people rushing through the mist and over the mountains, Mr. Giang A Thao (Dien Bien Dong, Dien Bien) could not hide his excitement when receiving gifts from the traffic police: "This year, we could not book bus tickets, so my wife and I told each other to ride a motorbike home to be proactive. There were many traffic jams, and I felt exhausted when I got here, but the traffic police supported me with drinking water and gave me free helmets, which gave me more energy for the rest of the journey."

Also according to Son La Provincial Police, to support people working far away to return home for Tet conveniently, ensuring health and safety during the trip, the Traffic Police Department of Son La Provincial Police has been organizing support for people at 4 locations in the province.

The specific points include: Point No. 1 at Km 161, National Highway 6, in Pa Kha village, Long Luong commune, Van Ho district; Point No. 2 at Km 261, National Highway 6, in Co Noi commune, Mai Son district; Point No. 3 at Km 288, National Highway 6, in Chieng Mung commune, Mai Son district; Point No. 4 at Km 14, National Highway 32, in Du Lau village, Tan Lang commune, Phu Yen district.
