On November 23, the Commander of the Traffic Police Department - Yen Bai Provincial Police informed that after 45 days of implementing the peak period of ensuring traffic order and safety for school-age children, the Traffic Police of the whole province had handled 1,760 cases of student violations.
Authorities have also recorded 380 cases of handing over vehicles or allowing unqualified people to drive vehicles.
The Commander of the Traffic Police Department of Yen Bai province emphasized that many parents have not strictly followed the regulations, especially the situation of giving vehicles to children who are not qualified to drive on the road.
According to statistics from early October to mid-November 2024, the traffic police of Yen Bai province handled more than 800 cases of not wearing helmets, over 1,000 underage students driving vehicles, and dozens of violations of running red lights.
Inspection and handling of violations are carried out thoroughly and maintained regularly and continuously, creating positive changes in awareness and compliance with traffic safety laws of parents and students.
During the 45 peak days, there were 5 traffic accidents involving school-age children, killing 2 people and injuring 5 people (a sharp decrease compared to the same period in 2023).
