On December 20, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present at the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant reservoir (Ba Cap port, Thai Binh ward, Hoa Binh city). According to records, the water level here was lower than when the hydropower plant discharged floodwater.
The shallow water has had a significant impact on the lives of people living in the Da River reservoir. This season, although people no longer have to worry about floods and storms, their livelihoods are still full of difficulties.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Kieu Thanh Tung (36 years old, residing in Thai Binh ward) - a fisherman who makes a living by catching shrimp and fish said that the water level of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir is about 30 meters lower than the time of flood discharge.
According to Mr. Tung, the low water level has affected his family's livelihood, killing 3 fish cages, causing a loss of nearly 100 million VND. In addition to the lack of natural fish and increased fish farming costs, the low water level in the lake has also significantly affected travel and transportation. Therefore, current income is also much lower than before.
Similarly, Ms. Dinh Thi Luong (33 years old) shared that the end of the year is the time to transport goods for Tet to the lake area, because the low water level will increase transportation costs, leading to an increase in the prices of many items.
Although fishing and aquaculture activities are affected by low water levels, boat services for sightseeing and tourism are still operating normally.
Mr. Tran Khac My (63 years old), a tourist boat owner, said: "Ba Cap port area has about a dozen passenger boats anchored, all activities are still going on normally but the busiest time is on weekends. Currently, the boat owners are actively cleaning and decorating to prepare for the experiential tourism season after Tet."
According to Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Tay Bac Media and Tourism Company, Hoa Binh Lake area not only has beautiful scenery, but this place is also a spiritual place that attracts many tourists. Every year, Bo Temple Festival takes place from the 2nd day of Lunar New Year and lasts until the end of the 3rd lunar month.
"On this occasion, every day, tourist boats welcome thousands of visitors from all over the country to visit spring, attend festivals and make pilgrimages during the holidays, thereby creating stable income as well as promoting the tourism industry of Hoa Binh province," Mr. Tung assessed.
Ms. Quach Thi Kieu - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh province informed that Hoa Binh lake has great advantages in tourism potential. To develop the tourism industry, people have expanded many types of services such as eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, resorts, entertainment activities and community tourism to help increase the attraction of domestic and foreign tourists.
In the coming time, the province will also continue to focus on stimulating tourism in the lake area, especially in early spring.
