On November 21, the Con Co Island Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Province Border Guard) said that it had just brought 5 crew members from a fishing boat that was sunk by waves to shore safely.
At 11:00 a.m. the same day, Con Co Island Border Guard Station received a report from Gianh Port Border Guard Station (Quang Binh), requesting support for 5 crew members of a Quang Binh fishing boat that was sunk by waves and was rescued safely to shore by a Nghe An fishing boat.
Con Co Island Border Guard Station arranged vehicles to promptly bring the injured sailors to the island safely.
Previously, at 11:00 p.m. on November 20, Gianh Port Border Guard Station received information from Mr. Ho Ba Ha (born in 1983, residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province), the owner and captain of fishing boat NA-99167-TS, stating: At about 2:00 p.m. on the same day, the fishing boat was operating in the sea area with coordinates 17°43'N-107°52'E when it safely rescued 5 crew members of fishing boat QB-88991-TS that was sunk by waves nearby.
Fishing boat QB-88991-TS owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, residing in Quang Phuc ward (Ba Don town, Quang Binh province) left Gianh port on November 18 to fish. At about 2:00 p.m. on November 20, in the sea area with the above coordinates, it encountered level 6-7 waves and winds that broke the ship's planks, allowing water into the hold and completely sinking the boat.
The Con Co Island Border Guard Station contacted the Nghe An ship to propose an approach plan, asked for the opinion of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, and used the unit's CN09 ship, which was on duty at Con Co Island, to approach and bring 5 crew members onto the ship.
Currently, the health of all 5 injured crew members is stable.
