On November 2, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi inspected Duy Phuoc bridge (Ba Ngan bridge) and Cam Kim bridge damaged by the recent rain and floods. The city's leaders requested units and localities to urgently deploy remedial measures, ensure traffic safety and stabilize people's lives.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong - Chairman of Hoi An Ward People's Committee, due to the impact of the rain and flood from October 24 to 30, Duy Phuoc Bridge located on National Highway 14H in Hoi An Ward and Nam Phuoc Commune was swept away by the bridge abutment on the Hoi An side, collapsing a splide of the bridge. The embankment system, access roads and lighting system on the Hoi An side were eroded, sunk, broken, and seriously damaged.
In addition, at the foot of the bridge (Hoi An side), water flows from upstream, causing landslides and washing away sand and soil at Go Mo beach. The Go Mo inland concrete road system was broken and seriously damaged with a route length of about 350m and a road surface width of 3m.
Hoi An Ward has organized barriers and erected warning signs prohibiting vehicles from traveling through the bridge, National Highway 14H (from Cam Kim Bridge to Ba Ngan Bridge) as well as the Go Mo concrete road. At the same time, organize the clearing and cutting down fallen trees on the routes leading to the bridge.

Hoi An Ward requested the City People's Committee, the Department of Construction, and the Department of Finance to invest in urgently repairing bridges and access roads to serve the travel needs of the people. The City People's Committee directed the Quang Nam Traffic Project Management Board to promptly deploy investment in emergency construction of Duy Phuoc Bridge under the 129 Coastal Road Completion Project (Vo Chi Cong).
At Cam Kim bridge, floods caused landslides on the roadbed and eroded the slopes on both sides, causing traffic insecurity. The local government has erected warning signs for people to be cautious when traveling through this area.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee suggested that the locality continue to warn, fence off, and not allow people and vehicles to pass through the damaged bridge area until safety is ensured.
Relevant departments, branches and units urgently coordinate with localities to implement remedial measures, prioritize temporary repairs to ensure transportation, and at the same time develop long-term remedial investment plans, ensuring the safety of works and people's lives.
