The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just issued a Decision approving the investment project to build emergency anti-erosion embankments at key locations of rivers in Hoa Vang district with a total investment of 250 billion VND.
The project will be implemented in 2022 - 2025 to build a number of embankment sections at vulnerable locations with high risk of landslides on Yen River, Tuy Loan River and Vinh Dien River to prevent riverbank landslides, protect land, assets, and infrastructure systems of the State and people.
The project follows the existing coastline, facilitating flood drainage and ensuring the flow curves in accordance with the natural terrain. Investment in the construction of embankments at key locations with a total length of nearly 13,000 meters.
Recently, on September 10, during a field inspection of the current status of a number of irrigation works in Hoa Vang district, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Tran Chi Cuong requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the City Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited to immediately deploy maintenance and repair solutions, arrange forces to ensure sufficient professional capacity for direct operation, and regularly check the safety of the works even when there is no rain, especially the sluice gates and equipment for flood discharge.
Along with that, dredging and clearing the flow of flood drainage channels, drainage canal axes, and entrances to drainage sluices to proactively operate pumping stations and drainage sluices to drain buffer water when heavy rain is forecast to occur.
Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong requested the reservoir operators to update and supplement the operating procedures and related procedures on dam safety in accordance with the law. At the same time, he also noted some issues in disaster prevention and control.
When inspecting the An Trach dam, the city leaders emphasized that this is an important and crucial project in the city's overall disaster prevention and control work. Therefore, relevant units must proactively repair minor damages immediately, ensuring the safety of the project during the rainy and stormy season.
