According to Dak Lak provincial authorities, the situation of human trafficking crimes abroad has a diversity of subjects, the victims of trafficking are men.
One of the emerging methods is that subjects living in Vietnam have contacted Vietnamese people working in Cambodia or Cambodians.
On social networks (Zalo, Facebook), the subjects posted attractive recruitment lists: High salary (800-1000 USD/month), no need for experience, accommodation, travel, and paid training.
Their targets are young people aged 14 to 30 who are facing financial difficulties. After attracting the attention of the victims, these subjects will guide them to Moc Bai Border Gate area, Tay Ninh province, then take them through a small-scale route (illegally crossing the border) to Cambodia.
Here, victims are sold to scams operating in cyberspace, such as online gambling, virtual currency business... owned by foreigners.
The victim will be forced to work 12 - 16 hours a day, living under the strict management of the company owner.
They must comply with the rules and regulations and if they want to return home, they must call their families to pay a ransom of between $3,000 and $10,000.
In many cases, the victims have tried to escape, but are caught and suffered beatings, mistreats, or even sold to other facilities.
In the country, victims of domestic human trafficking cases are mainly women, being deceived, forced, transferred to conditional, disguised business establishments, disguised as forms of sex, prostitution such as karaoke, massage.
Human traffickers often use the trick of posting recruitment information with light work and high salaries for female employees serving at establishments such as karaoke and massage.
These advertisements often promise a salary of 20 to 25 million VND/month, but in reality, female employees are strictly managed and are not free to go out.
They also have to pay all their money to the manager and suffer many forms of fines if they do not meet the requirements.
According to the report of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, in the period of 2021-2025, victims of human trafficking crimes are increasingly younger.
The majority of victims were between the ages of 16 and under 18, accounting for 53%. The situation of human trafficking under 16 years old is still quite complicated, accounting for 6/13 cases of prosecution. The number of victims under 16 years old accounts for 9/38 victims (accounting for 24%).
