On the afternoon of December 4, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the People's Committee of Vinh Lai Commune, Lam Thao District confirmed that recently, a human skull was discovered on the alluvial land of the Red River passing through the area.
The leader said that the human skull was discovered on December 2. After the discovery, the authorities came to collect samples to serve the identification work, and the families of the victims who were still missing in the Phong Chau bridge collapse were also invited to come and collect samples.
"Authorities have searched around the area where the skull was found, but have not found anything else. To know the identity, we need to wait for the results of the examination. Currently, the skull has been buried according to regulations" - the leader of Vinh Lai Commune People's Committee informed.
The section of the Red River passing through Vinh Lai commune is about 4 km long (on the left bank of the Red River), about 10 km downstream of Phong Chau bridge.
Up to now, there are still 4 missing victims in the Phong Chau bridge collapse on September 9 that have not been found.
