As Lao Dong reported, after collecting public opinions, the Project to reorganize and merge Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces to establish Bac Ninh province was submitted to the Government on April 28, ahead of schedule.
According to the Project, the two provinces of Bac Ninh - Bac Giang will merge and have a new name, Bac Ninh province, the administrative center will be located in the current Bac Giang city.
Bac Ninh province (new) after the merger is expected to have a total of 99 commune-level administrative units, with a natural area of 4,718.6 km2; population of 3,619,433 people.
In particular, the old Bac Ninh province plans to reduce from 121 commune-level administrative units to 41, including 20 wards and 21 communes. Specifically as follows:
Bac Ninh city after the arrangement has 5 new administrative units including: Kinh Bac ward, Vo Cuong ward, Vu Ninh ward, hap Linh ward and Nam Son ward.
After the arrangement, Tu Son city has 4 administrative units including: Tu Son ward, Tam Son ward, Dong Nguyen ward and Phu Khe ward.
Thuan Thanh town after the arrangement includes 6 new wards including: Thuan Thanh ward, Mao Dien ward, Tram Lo ward, Tri Qua ward, Song Lieu ward and Ninh Xa ward.
Que Vo Commune after the arrangement has 7 new administrative units including: Que Vo Ward, Phuong Lieu Ward, Nhan Hoa Ward, Dao Vien Ward, Bong Lai Ward, Chi Lang Commune and Phu Lang Commune.
Yen Phong district has 5 new administrative units including: Yen Phong commune, Van Mon commune, Tam Giang commune, Yen Trung commune and Tam Da commune.
Tien Du district has 5 new administrative units including: Lim town, Lien Bao commune, Tan Chi commune, Dai Dong commune, Phat Tich commune.
Gia Binh district has 5 new administrative units including: Gia Binh commune, Nhan Thang commune, Dai Lai commune, Cao Duc commune, Dong Cuu commune.
Luong Tai district has 4 new administrative units including: Luong Tai commune, Lam Thao commune, Trung Chinh commune and Trung Kenh commune.
Bac Giang province plans to reduce from 192 commune-level administrative units to 58 units, including 13 wards and 45 communes. Specifically as follows:
