On December 7, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee said that it had reviewed and concluded a number of contents, including reviewing the report proposing to discipline the violating party member against Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Lam Dong province and Vu Van Phong, former Director of Lam Vien Brick and Tile Factory Company Limited.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc is currently a Party Committee member, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province. During his tenure as Deputy Head of the Department and Head of the Mineral Management Department of Lam Dong Agriculture and Rural Development (old), he assessed the dossier, advised, and proposed to the competent authority to grant a license to exploit minerals (clay).
At the same time, allow Lam Vien Brick and Tile Factory Company Limited to exploit stone for common construction materials using the open-pit method that is not in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Minerals.
Previously, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ministry of National Defense prosecuted Mr. Nguyen Van Duc for the crime of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste". Mr. Duc is currently being temporarily suspended from work to serve the investigation of matters related to the above incident.
For Mr. Vu Van Phong, a member of the Tan Binh village Party Committee, Bao Loc Ward 3 Party Committee from November 2012 to December 2021. At this time, Mr. Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Commander of National Defense Economic Zone 78 (Ninh Gia commune, Lam Dong province), and Director of Lam Vien Brick and Tile Factory Company Limited, Military Academy, under the Military Party Committee, violated regulations on mineral exploitation; directed Lam Vien Brick and Tile Factory Company Limited to illegally exploit the product (clay).
The Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ministry of National Defense has prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Vu Van Phong for the crime of "violating regulations on resource exploitation".
Mr. Vu Van Phong's violations caused very serious consequences, bad public opinion in society, and outrage among cadres, party members and people.
The Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee decided to discipline Mr. Vu Van Phong by expelling him from the Party and requested the competent authority to consider and discipline Mr. Nguyen Van Duc.
Regarding the case that occurred in the 78th National Defense Economic Zone and Lam Vien Brick and Tile Factory Company Limited, from November 2012 to September 2021, this Company has dumped 640,583m3 of minerals. Of which, the volume of smuggled minerals was determined to be 611,082m3.
