On October 20, the leader of the Department of Transport of Binh Dinh province said that he had directed relevant units to inspect and review traffic infrastructure works and key locations on the routes managed by the Department.
Through inspection, the provincial Department of Transport has directed the Road Maintenance Management Board to urgently dredge, clear sewers, clear streams, clear bushes, and fill drainage ditches and cross-drainage systems on the roads.
In particular, attention is paid to inspecting bridge works before the rainy season. For newly arising damages at slab bridges and bridges with large spans, the Department of Transport has repaired and overcome them, ensuring the safety of the works during the rainy season.
The works that have cleared the flow include: Nghi Tran Bridge (route DT639); Ban bridge, Muon bridge (route DT638) and a number of bridges on the extended economic zone axis road.
Repair and reinforce the abutment cones and slopes of temporarily eroded bridges, including: Ban Bridge (route DT633); Kim Xuyen Bridge (route DT636); Go Lao Bridge (route DT638); Ha Ra Bridge, Suoi Ba Luan Bridge, Ben Dam Bridge, Ban Bridge (route DT639).
Conduct temporary reinforcement of eroded bridge piers with stone gabions, including: An Lao Bridge (route DT629); Nga Hai Bridge (route DT630).
To ensure the bridge is operated stably, long-term and synchronizes the load on provincial roads, the Department of Transport proposes that the Provincial People's Committee consider and allow the repair and reinforcement of abutments, pillars, and bridge girders with a more durable structure using the annual economic career budget allocated to the Department.
Currently, on provincial roads there are 27 weak and narrow bridges that need to be replaced to ensure traffic safety. Therefore, the Department of Transport proposed the Provincial People's Committee to approve a project to build and replace weak and narrow bridges, using medium-term public investment sources for the period 2026-2030.
In response to the above proposal, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan assigned the Department of Transport to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to urgently inspect and repair damage to road traffic works managed by the Department, to ensure safe operation of the works, especially during the 2024 rainy and stormy season; Develop a specific plan to implement the maintenance, repair and reinforcement of traffic works.
The Department of Transport shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Finance and relevant units to consider and propose the repair and construction of weak and narrow-gauge bridges to ensure traffic safety and synchronize the load capacity of provincial roads, in accordance with the province's budget allocation capacity.
