Proposal to urgently relocate 1,861 households from dangerous natural disaster areas in Gia Lai

Gia Lai - The Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed that the province urgently evacuate 1,861 households from disaster areas to ensure safety and stabilize people's lives.

On November 29, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval a list of 16 projects and plans to arrange and stabilize residents in disaster areas.

These are areas that need to be urgently relocated to minimize natural disaster risks, with a total of 2,223 households, of which 1,861 households must be relocated. The total estimated cost is more than VND 1,840 billion, including infrastructure investment of more than VND 845 billion, household support of VND 258 billion and compensation and site clearance of VND 735 billion.

Of which, the eastern part of the province has 9 areas (8 concentrated projects, 1 interspersed plan), with a total scale of 1,269 households, of which 907 households need to be relocated. The total estimated cost is more than 960 billion VND.

9 areas include: Resettlement area (TDC) in the disaster area of Cat Tien commune; resettlement project for urgent relocation of households living in landslide areas in Nui Cam (Chanh Thang village, Cat Tien commune) phase 1; resettlement area for people in low-lying areas in Phu My Dong commune (old My An commune) phase 2; resettlement area project for people in Phu My Dong commune (old My Thang commune); resettlement area for people in Phu My Bac commune (old My Duc commune);

Tra Cong village disaster resettlement project (An Hoa commune) phase 1 and 2; resettlement project for emergency relocation of households living in landslide areas in Nui Ganh (Duc Pho 1 village, De Gi commune) phase 2; resettlement project for households in the area east of the coastal road (An Quang Dong village, De Gi commune); inter-population plan for disaster areas in Quy Nhon Dong ward.

In the western part of the province, there are 7 areas (5 concentrated projects and 2 interspersed options), with a total relocation of 954 households. The total estimated cost is more than 880 billion VND.

7 areas include: Project to stabilize residents in disaster areas of Ia Tul commune; project to arrange and stabilize crops and settle in areas affected by natural disasters in Ia Hiao commune; project to stabilize residents in Song Ba village ( Ia RSai commune); project to stabilize residents in the disaster area of Buon Nu (Uar commune); project to stabilize residents in the disaster area of Ia Ly commune; project to stabilize residents in the disaster area of Tang village (Dak Song commune); plan to arrange and stabilize residents in the disaster area in Ia Klon hamlet, Gum Gop hamlet, Bha Nga hamlet, Nong Siu hamlet, Blak hamlet ( Ia Dreh commune).

The above projects and plans aim to urgently relocate households living in disaster areas, ensure safety of life and stabilize the lives of people in the province.
