The information was confirmed by Green DP Technology Company Limited (GreenlinesDP) - the operator of the Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau high-speed train route on the morning of May 6.
The suspension is to hand over the No. 2 boat bridge at Bach Dang wharf to the construction unit of the Saigon River pedestrian bridge project.
GreenlinesDP said it has proposed a new wharf location to continue exploiting the route and is currently waiting for approval from Ho Chi Minh City authorities.
Ship bridge No. 2, 80 m long, 9 m wide, located along Bach Dang wharf park on the Saigon River, has been leased by GreenlinesDP for many years to operate the high-speed train route to Vung Tau.
This area is currently the location chosen to build a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River connecting from the center of District 1 through the Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City). The project has a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND, starting construction at the end of March 2025.
Previously, to implement the construction of the pedestrian bridge, the People's Committee of District 1 proposed that GreenlinesDP stop operating at the No. 2 wharf. The enterprise has also begun to dismantle and relocate related items to return the site.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau high-speed train line has been in operation since 2018, with a route from Bach Dang wharf down the Saigon River, Nha Be River, Long Tau River, Nga Bay River to Tac Suat wharf (Can Gio District), then continuing through Ganh Rai wharf to dock at Ho May cable car tourism area (Vung Tau City).
According to GreenlinesDP, the train line operates 4 - 8 trips per day, and on weekends alone, it can increase to 10 - 12 trips to meet tourism needs.
The time to travel by high-speed train from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau is about 2 hours, significantly shortened compared to traveling by car, which takes about 3 hours.
Currently, passengers traveling between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau will have to choose alternative means such as passenger cars, personal cars or wait for further notice when the train line is restored at another location.
