Free tickets on feeder buses will help passengers easily access Metro system No. 1, creating convenience when traveling to train stations.
In addition to 17 bus routes, Ho Chi Minh City will also spend 15.7 billion VND to support free tickets for Metro Line 1 during the first 30 days of commercial operation.
In addition to the free policy for the first month, Ho Chi Minh City also supports completely free tickets for priority groups such as: people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly and children under 6 years old (accompanied by adults). The cost of this support is estimated at about 10.7 billion VND per year.
According to regulations, priority subjects will be issued free cards to use the train. Urban Railway Company No. 1 will coordinate with the People's Committees of wards and communes to issue cards and provide instructions on how to use them when passing through the ticket gate. Children under 6 years old will use ID cards.
The HCMC People's Committee believes that these policies aim to encourage people to switch to using public transport instead of private vehicles when entering the inner city. This not only reduces traffic jams and congestion but also contributes to reducing emissions and improving the quality of the living environment.
Metro Line 1 has a one-way ticket price of 6,000 - 20,000 VND, monthly ticket is 300,000 VND (150,000 VND for students). Passengers can also choose to buy a daily ticket (40,000 VND) or a three-day ticket (90,000 VND), with unlimited trips.
Currently, Metro Line 1 project has completed 100% of the work volume and is in the system safety assessment and acceptance phase. Metro Line 1 is expected to officially operate from December 22, 2024.
