Mr. Pham Ngoc Son (a tour guide in Hoi An) excitedly shared that Cau Pagoda was born around the mid-17th century, and has existed for about 400 years.
The Cau Pagoda is officially called Lai Vien Kieu, a unique architectural work of art not only in Vietnam but also rare in the world, becoming a symbol of Hoi An.
The image of Cau Pagoda is also printed on a 20,000 VND bill in the current monetary system in Vietnam.

After the recent historic flood, the Cau Pagoda area has a new milestone. During the tour, Mr. Son also introduced to many tourists the numbers and floods in Hoi An that marked the milestones here such as 2017, 1999, 2009, 2007, 2025.
"Many tourists are interested and curious when I share this information. They feel impressed and express sympathy for the people of Hoi An area" - Mr. Son said.

In addition to this location, Lao Dong reporter's research shows that the owner of the ancient Quan Thang house also marked a historic flood milestone in Hoi An on the wooden wall. Here, the homeowner carved flood markers in 1964, 1999, 2007 and 2009.
Quan Thang Ancient House (located on Tran Phu Street) was built at the end of the 18th century, this is one of the beautiful and intactly preserved ancient structures in Hoi An.
The house is named after the Chinese trader Quan Thang - one of the richest and most influential people in the ancient Hoi An city.

On October 30, the Thu Bon River at Cau Lau station (Da Nang City) rose to 5.62m, exceeding alert level III by more than 1.6m and about 0.12m higher than the historical level of 1964 .
Heavy rain for 4 days caused many ancient houses in Hoi An to be submerged in water, many families had to move all their activities to the 2nd floor waiting for the water to recede.
