Ba Son Station is 240m long, more than 34m wide and 20m deep. The station consists of two floors, each floor is delicately designed in a modern style.
Recorded on November 7, the first floor of the station is more than 8,000 square meters wide with the main color of white, is the waiting area, where ticket machines, automatic toll gates and information rooms are located. Right at the entrance is the ticket control area for passengers, creating convenience for users.
The highlight of the first floor architecture is the ceiling covered with steel patterns, creating wavy shapes, bringing modern beauty and making Ba Son station different from other stations on Metro Line 1.
The second floor is the platform area where passengers get on and off the train, which is also completed, with only some minor cleaning work left before it is ready for operation.
Ba Son Station belongs to CP1b package - underground section from City Theater Station to Ba Son Station.
According to Mr. Hoang Mai Tung - Director of Project Management Board 1 (in charge of Metro Line 1), CP1b package has achieved the best progress among the four main packages of the project.
Currently, all items in this package - from construction, acceptance of fire protection systems to acceptance of the project - have been completed and handed over to the investor.
Mr. Tung said that the entire Metro Line No. 1 has completed 99% of the total workload. The remaining 1% includes acceptance procedures and preparation for putting the project into official operation.
Mr. Phan Cong Bang - Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, said that the Board is still implementing many solutions, coordinating with Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) in training train drivers to ensure the operation progress of Metro Line No. 1 by the end of 2024.
“This is the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City and also the first underground line in Vietnam with a length of 2.6 km. Therefore, we need to be careful and learn from Hanoi’s experience in operating their two metro lines, in order to strictly control the necessary steps to ensure the smoothest operation,” said Mr. Bang.
Mr. Phan Cong Bang added that Metro Line 1 will be put into operation in December 2024. During the first month, residents and tourists will experience it for free.
From January 2025, Metro 1 will officially sell tickets at prices ranging from 6,000 to 20,000 VND depending on the length of the trip.
On the morning of November 7, at Ba Son station, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to award certificates of merit to the Shimizu - Maeda Joint Venture for its outstanding achievements in accelerating the completion of all construction items under the CP1b package and to the GS Engineering & Construction Corporation for its outstanding achievements in accelerating the construction of pedestrian bridges at elevated stations under the CP2 package of Metro Line 1.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board also awarded the conditional handover certificate (TOC) for the CP1b package.
This is one of the important procedural steps for the investor and HURC1 Company to gradually approach the project, in order to serve the trial operation, towards the official operation of Metro Line No. 1 in 2024.
