According to the reporter's records on December 28, on some roads in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city, the construction and upgrading of sidewalks has basically been completed, and workers are quickly carrying out some remaining items.
In particular, Nguyen Trai Street is a fashionable street in Ninh Kieu District. Up to now, the sidewalks are no longer dug up but instead have been paved with clean bricks. It is observed that there are about 10 workers working along the entire route to complete the remaining small tasks.
People living and doing business on the fashion street are excited to witness the changes. The sidewalks have been upgraded to be spacious, clean and beautiful, creating favorable conditions for business activities, especially at the end of the year.
“The end of the year is the peak business season for fashion stores. In recent days, the sidewalk upgrade process has also partly affected business. However, up to now, the sidewalk has a new, spacious appearance, convenient for the stores’ business as well as for people to go shopping for Tet,” a representative of a fashion store here shared.
On some other routes such as Ly Tu Trong, De Tham, Nguyen Khuyen (in Ninh Kieu district), the sidewalks have been upgraded with a synchronous and airy design, helping people move more easily and safely, contributing to building a civilized and modern urban area.
Mr. Huynh Trung Tru - Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee - said that Ninh Kieu District is renovating and upgrading sidewalks from local investment capital, medium term 2021 - 2025. These are sidewalks built 20 years or more ago, most of which have only been maintained and repaired, not upgraded or renovated.
There are a total of 13 streets with renovated and upgraded sidewalks including: De Tham, Nguyen Khuyen, Ly Tu Trong, Phan Van Tri, Quang Trung, Nguyen Trai, Ngo Quyen, Phan Dinh Phung, Tran Quoc Toan, Thu Khoa Huan, Ly Thuong Kiet, Ngo Gia Tu and Hoa Binh Boulevard.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, in order to have synchronization in environmental issues and people's business, before implementing the project, the district notified the agencies and companies exploiting technical infrastructure (telecommunications, electricity, water). The water supply and drainage company also carried out the parallel replacement of pipes during the district's construction to renovate and upgrade the sidewalk.
In addition, the district also directed the construction unit to speed up the progress and promptly clean up and return the premises for people to do business during the New Year and Lunar New Year.
Up to now, the sidewalks on De Tham, Nguyen Khuyen, Ly Tu Trong, Nguyen Trai streets have been renovated and upgraded, bringing positive changes to the urban landscape and people's lives. The remaining streets will continue to be constructed after Tet.
